Energy Training Center Holds Public Lectures on Consumer Rights in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Supported by the International Visegrad Foundation

With support from the International Visegrad Foundation (IVF), the Energy Training Center at the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) organized a public lecture in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. Representatives from the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Municipality and employees from regional utility companies attended the event. Participants were informed about mechanisms for protecting consumer rights in the electricity, natural gas, and water supply sectors, as well as the regulation of electricity quality. The meeting also highlighted the importance of GNERC’s regulatory standards for utility companies and the key role of the Energy Ombudsman office.

As part of the project, "Sharing the Experience of the Visegrad Countries on the Regulation of Utility Services," various activities focused on utility sector regulation have been organized by the Energy Training Center at GNERC. During the training sessions, participants gained valuable insights into both Georgia’s approach to regulating utility services and the experiences of the project’s partner countries—Czechia, Poland, and Slovakia.

The partners of the project "Sharing the Experience of the Visegrad Countries on the Regulation of Utility Services" are the Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (Slovakia), the Charles University Environment Center (Czechia), and the Partners for Climate Foundation (Poland).

The project aims to leverage the expertise of Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia in utility service regulation. Through the study and analysis of existing frameworks, the project will identify best practices and promote capacity building among local actors. The project has launched a dedicated website, www.v4share.com.
